Broth Bowls

If you had one too many slices of Peppermint Crunch Cake…

If you indulged in Danish Cherries Jubilee pancakes to your heart’s content…

If you ate this entire Roquefort, pear, fig jam pizza with arugula (minus one slice)…

…then you might need a broth bowl.

Aunt B was in town for Christmas, and fondue, and niece/nephew snuggles, and also to have her wisdom teeth out.

What do you feed people who have had too many Christmas goodies, 1/8th of them who has just had oral surgery?

Broth bowls! I stole the idea from Panera, even though I didn’t actually try Panera’s recipe.

I made two big pots of broth: veggie beef and veggie chicken.

Then I fried up a big hunk of tofu and cooked a package of soba noodles.

Other toppings:

Water chestnuts, scallions, mushrooms, bean sprouts, carrots,  bok choi, cilantro, and limes.

Give guests deep bowls to fill with the toppings of their choice then cover with steaming broth. Bonus points if you provide salad plates or something else to use as a “lid” to help the toppings soften a little in the bowls.

I don’t have a photo of my finished product broth bowl because:

1. I was starving

2. I was very busy trying to make Aunt B laugh which is super fun when someone has a sore mouth.
