My handsome boy graduated from kindergarten last night. I cried at least 3 times. There was a slide show. With music. That always does it to me. They went alphabetically, displaying each student’s photo. I was sobbing by the C’s.

He won a scholarship for (what else?) academic achievement. It’s a scholarship for high school. High school? Yeah, I’ll take it.

And as I was sitting there watching him stand so proudly with his classmates, I had this flash forward that much much too soon, I’d be sitting in this very same chair, watching my boy graduate from 8th grade and I vowed, once again, to be present for these two that I adore.

“Life is what happens to you while you’re busy making other plans…”
