I Choose Gratitude

It’s been a trash week. Trash.

And now that I think about it, much of February has been less than stellar.

And to be perfectly honest, I’m not yet sold on 2015.

So there’s that.

But I’m cognizant enough to realize that I choose my attitude. I choose my outlook.

So today, after an incredibly stressful week where I forgot it was pajama day and I forgot about valentines and for at least three days this week, I only saw my children between 7-7:45 am and I saw Matty B even less and I ate too much stress chocolate and not nearly enough apples and my longest run was 2 miles…

Well, today I choose gratitude.

I’m grateful for the ability to be choosy about the foods I eat.

Some people don’t have this blessing.

I’m grateful that even though it was only 2 miles, I have legs that run and a heart strong enough to handle it .

Some people don’t have this blessing.

I’m grateful that my children can attend Christian schools where they can be surrounded by positive influences.

Some people don’t have this blessing.

I’m grateful that even though I don’t remember Valentine’s Day, my sweet husband does.

I’m a lucky lady.

I’m grateful for this boy, who is still learning how to brush his teeth.

No tooth decay in this house.

And I’m grateful for this girl who loves me almost as passionately as she loves Minnie.

Minnie is, after all, a tough one to beat.

And I know it isn’t Thanksgiving, but choosing gratitude is maybe the best way I’ve found to deal with stress.

Also, this…

“Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
