Alexander’s Chocolate Classics

I’m afraid for Alexander.

I’m afraid that the Walmarts and the 7-11’s and maybe even the Baskin Robbins of the world are going to eat him alive.

Growing up, and to this day, my parents were/are small business owners. Because of that, and because I will always choose a mom-and-pop bakery muffin over anything in a Sarah Lee wrapper, I have a soft spot in my heart for small businesses.

Remember The Garden, my favorite vegan cafe in Walla Walla?

Gone.

And who knows? Maybe my favorite Crema is one slow winter away from going out of business.

But back to Alexander.

Of all places, Pendleton, got a gourmet chocolate shop. It’s called Alexander’s Chocolate Classics

And I’m not trying to insinuate that Pendleton is not worthy of a chocolate shop, but a city famous for cowboys and whiskey doesn’t seem like a big contender for European Sipping Chocolate.

I was absolutely in heaven, inspecting shelf upon shelf of top quality cacao.

I had the cherubs along for the ride. They were also in heaven, but for a different reason.

Alexander’s has a freezer case with ice cream bars (mint, espresso, coconut, raspberry and more) that are then hand dipped in your choice of chocolate and toppings.

Shockingly, both kids chose rainbow sprinkles.

They were a hit.

I had a chocolate chip cookie dipped in dark chocolate. Amazing.

Alexander, I’ll do what I can to support you. I will publicly commit to visiting your store every time we go to Pendleton. I’ll spend a lot of money. I promise.

Just please don’t leave.

Please…
