It all started when I came home from work on Friday and Matty B rushed out to greet me, determined to make his case before I walked in the door.
“It’s not staying, I promise,” he proclaimed. “It’s going to go to the school for the school carnival.”
What was this elusive “it”?
That’s right. We are the
not so proud owners of a “Dough-Nu-Matic”. The yard sale king couldn’t resist (it was only $5!) and now this beast was a soon-to-be permanent fixture on my counter.
To say Matty B was excited would be an understatement.
Have I mentioned my somewhat competitive nature? Naturally, I challenged Matty B to a doughnut contest. In order to compare apples to apples, we decided that we’d both make cinnamon sugar doughnuts.
In this corner, Matty B with his fried doughnuts:
And in this corner, my baked delicacies:
Additionally, my dad was a “write-in” entry with a blueberry doughnut mix, but it was a bit of a disaster in the Dough-Nu-Matic and even after baking, they just didn’t come out right.
Good try, Dad.
So, who was the big winner? Out of the 9 people surveyed, I was the triumphant champion (although I will say that the picture of Matty B’s mini doughnuts above were the fullest that plate ever was because people kept taking those little buggers.)
It’s a good thing I won. No one wants to see me cry.
And trust me, you don’t want to play monopoly with me.
