I don’t watch a lot of TV. I think we’ve talked about this. There are more than two reasons:
1. Time. I spend most of my evenings playing baseball in the backyard, going for bike rides, and jumping on the trampoline. (Correction: watching people jump on the trampoline. My stomach doesn’t bend that way anymore.) It’s a tough life.
2. I’m highly emotional. This means that I can’t watch anything too scary, lewd, graphic, or sad.
3. I’m tired. Very tired. Also, my bed is really comfortable.
But recently, mostly thanks to my Master Chef habit, I’ve seen a few commercials. They make me angry. Very angry.
Back To School ads.
Target is typically the worst offender. It seems they’re advertising immediately after the 4th of July. And I pacified myself with the fact that there were still weeks and weeks of summer left.
But now it’s late August. The air is a little chilly in the early morning and running past an elementary school I saw a sign: “First Day of School: August 26.” That’s like, 5 days.
And it’s not that I don’t want school to start, it’s just that with the beginning of school is the end of summer.
And I’m not ready. And because I need to take advantage of every last second, my entire day seemed to take on an “ode to summer” flavor.
All too soon pumpkin will be invading our lives, but until then, I’m making ice cream.
Happy medium= pumpkin ice cream?
