Anonymity, Headaches and WIAW

When we were on vacation at the Oregon coast a few weeks ago, we ran into no less than 3 families we knew from home.

It’s almost impossible for me to go to the grocery store in Sandy or Gresham without running into someone affiliated with the school.

If I would let them, my students would spend every class period, just asking me questions. About me. Today they figured out my middle name. It’s Jo. They were shocked. I think they expected an old lady name like Marilyn or Helen.

Regardless, I don’t get much anonymity in my life. This is why I absolutely adore the blogging community. I can have a different personality that doesn’t involve disciplining someone’s child and instead focuses on my love for dark chocolate and kombucha.

Another reason I love the blogging community?

Good food.

I realized today that every main meal I ate had a component from a fellow blogger recipe. So here’s my “shout out” to some inspirational bloggers…

I made Laura’s recipe for TVP oats. Yes, you read that right. Breakfast cereal made out of textured vegetable protein. Crazy! And I couldn’t even tell the difference between the TVP and regular oats- a great option for extra protein! I topped mine with banana and walnuts.

And then I made a big mistake. Decaf instead of regular. I’d like to blame my bad day on this tiny little decision.

I had a rip roaring headache all day.

I tried to self medicate with some vitamin C. No luck.

Lunch was brown rice, roasted broccoli, sautéed mushrooms, my own kale pesto and these mini meatloaves from Somer.

I tried to take the edge off. In general, I don’t take medicine. I just don’t. You know it’s bad when I bust out the Tylenol.

Dinner was sponsored by my two favorite girls: Joy the Baker gave me cornbread and Mama Pea gave me guacamole. And because you can’t live on cornbread and guacamole alone, (although I wish you could) I added vege chili and red quinoa.

Dessert. I dipped that banana too many times to count.

The headache? Never went away. I guess I learned my lesson. I will continue to worship the caffeine gods…

Have you come across any good blogger recipes recently?
