Reality and WIAW

It’s back to reality.

No more sleeping in until 7 am. Is 7 am ‘sleeping in’? It is for this mama of two!

No more leisurely breakfasts. We’re back to oatmeal in the car.

No more peppermint hot chocolate, cinnamon rolls, giant pieces of pie, mashed potato mountains or loaves of bread.

It’s back to reality.

Back to…


1/3 cup quinoa cooked in water and apple juice, topped with frozen cherries, almonds, coconut, and a dollop of cranberry sauce.

Coffee. Done.


Lunch was a giant taco salad. This beast was as big as my head! 1/2 cup corn chips, 1/2 cup pinto beans, pile of romaine, handful of olives, handful of tomatoes, enough salsa to make my lips burn. Oh wait, maybe they’re burning because it’s shockingly cold outside!


Dinner was a small side salad with cucs, orange pepper and balsamic, followed by 1/2 cup orechiette pasta, 1/2 cup mushrooms and 1/2 cup zucchini, all mashed together with some vegan pesto.


Dessert was 1/2 a banana and 2 TBS of my cheesecake dip from yesterday. Miss Rae calls this dip “ketchup”. She also picks her nose and then hands me the contents. She’s a classy lady…

WIAW is a good thing because looking back at what I ate today, I realize that I had some good eats! It’s January 2. Lots of veggies and no deprivation. Maybe ‘reality’ isn’t so bad after all?

  1. That quinoa with cheeries combo sounds so interesting. I also had a taco salad on my WIAW round up 🙂
